Jim and Allan Ferrie started J&A Ferrie in 1982 shoeing all types of horse and supplying farriers locally with shoes and nails. They have both attained Worshipful Company of Farrier Fellowship status and have been appointed Examiners and Approved Judges of the Company.
Both brothers have this year been inducted into the International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame for 2003 sponsored by American Farrier's Journal and the Kentucky Derby Museum. This is in recognition of Distinguished Accomplishments, Achievements and Contribution in advancing the Farrier Industry.
All members of the Hall of Fame are honoured and respected by their fellow farriers and have been nominated by farriers, students, teachers, horse-owners and vets.
Both being competitive by nature, they have competed nationally and internationally, regularly attending the World Championship Blacksmith Competition in Calgary, Alberta and following the American Farriers Contest to various locations in the US.
Lecturing and forging demonstrations worldwide give the brothers little time for leisure, but when possible salmon fishing is top of the list.
The Farrier Supply arm is continuing to grow and both Jim and Allan see that developing the European Farrier market is the way forward. They are ably supported by G.E. and will continue to develop their own range of tools and concave horseshoes.
Sales Manager, Alan Murdoch, is responsible for the day-to-day running of the supply business and is supported by Jill Ferrie. They will both be happy to answer any queries you may have.
